I can't listen to "old" music.

I have just come to detest anything older than the eighties, with a very few exceptions. It all sounds so dated to me. I erased what little 70's stuff I had on my iPhone/iPad to make room for new albums. I didn't have much - some Beatles, Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, early Genesis, some Jackson Five.

Via con dios.

I particularly like the newest that's out. My wife is the opposite. She's said that most of the stuff she likes was made before 1987. It's a constant battle when we are riding together in the car.

I feel sorry for anybody whose interests are so narrow they write off everything other than what they have directly experienced.

But those smartphones/ipod touches with their small memory sizes get clogged with apps and stuff you don't need.

reflects its era (like Bob Dylan) is good to me. When a few more years pass, it'll be great BECAUSE it reflects an era.

But I like music from all eras. Talent is talent. I like clips of dancing from the beginning of film, too. And sometimes it's so campy, it's great.

OTOH, there is music like this:

I like alternative stuff from the 80s and onward that I haven't heard played to death -- stuff like Wiretrain and Echo and the Bunnymen, etc. I like newer stuff from the 2000s and 2010s (anything from Elliott Smith to Metric). I like some funky stuff from the 70s, but hearing the Beatles and Stones and and Who and Dead for the umpteenth time starts to depress me after awhile.

I grew up listening to rock in the late 60s and early 70s. Can't stand listening to that stuff these days. I like a lot of the new so called alternative stuff and indie music.

I can't tell you how many times I've listened to these tunes, but every time I do they stir my soul and they are as fresh and exciting as the first time I heard them.
