So I got my hair chopped off by about 3 inches. It's still at my shoulders. I did it so it wouldn't be so damn hot this summer. I literally sweltered like I was in a smokehouse last summer, and couldn't do it again.
I got a haircut. It was a nice swing bob where the ends caressed my shoulders. I was still dying of heatstroke. Now I have is whacked in the back about 1/2 inch, with strands in my face and GOOD LORD IT IS LIBERTY!!
It isn't hot anymore.

(39,961 posts)I've had it long for several summers, but couldn't take it anymore due to the heat. It's still sexy , of at least I think it is.

(46,179 posts)so I can get it up completely off of my neck and face. I cut it in the fall, when temperatures come back down.
Summer? Heat? It's ponytail time.

(21,691 posts)It's near 100. Even though it's up in a bun, it may be on the floor soon. I just had four inches removed, but obviously, not enough.
I come this >< close to shaving my head each summer...
I couldn't imagine enduring that in summer, but I'm glad you can, because long hair is very pretty.

I never really knew why he gave us all "brush cuts" for the summer.
Now it makes sense!

(32,100 posts)I went from a shorter-than-I-want to just-past-the-shoulders. I have been wearing it pulled back into a pony tail, so it's pretty cool. Been trimming my bangs myself, and will hopefully decide what to do next by the time they grow back over my eyes again.

(1,353 posts)trying to get my hair to grow past my shoulders. I switched to a new shampoo, and within 2 years, it's down to the middle of my back. So, I ain't cutting it, no way, no how! I put it up in a bun or ponytails if it gets too annoying. Apparently, we're going to have a cool, wet summer here, so I leave it down most of the time. Last summer it was hot as hell and droughty, so I had it up most of the time.

(62,478 posts)had hair to the middle of the back - really thick and tangly.
Just before she went on vacation (a trip home to Kenya) she got a buzz cut.
That was March - she still is buzzed and so happy about it.
She actually looks younger and she doesn't have all the maintenance

(6,581 posts)The longest hair on my head is about 2 inches. Over the ears, tapered down the back to an inch or so above the collar, only short "bangs" (is it even called that in men's cuts?).
I couldn't stand it any longer. At almost 50, it's as thick and full as it used to be, which is great.
Beard trimmed really close, too - more like lengthy stubble, actually.
