where do you want to live?
600.00 a month in New York or any place in Ca. ain't gonna happen
Possibly happen in a Southern state, outside of a major city.

(20,176 posts)if you're willing to live in economically-depressed areas and/or outside the city in PGC.
I almost bought a condo in the bad part of PG several blocks from the Orange line for $52K a few years ago with a HUD loan but the conditions stipulated how many years I had to live there or face penalties and I didn't know if I wanted to live in a high-crime impoverished area well into the age where I might be thinking about kids.
Edit: Needs to be said...the condo was what the realtor euphemistically called a "flip-a-wreck." It was barely going to pass HUD requirements and needed probably close to another $60K worth of work to be a beautiful home.

(332 posts)In Missouri especially outside from KC or ST Louis you can find rent in that price range real easy and also can buy a decent house in a decent neighborhood for $60,000

(14,120 posts)Missouri is cheep for housing. But then again most are minimum wage earners.
For a person that has put away some money, it can be easy to live there. Prices on stuff low.
Then again the job situation and depending on where in MO you go.

Nice communities. Jobs are easier to access. And you can always find something to do on a penny budget.
DO you know if a place called "Big Mama's" coffee shop is still there?
