The film is based on a short story by British writer Doris Lessing called the Grandmothers.

It tells the story of two grandmothers, Roz and Lil, best friends since girlhood who were lovers to each other's teenage sons, until their early 30s.

Though if you want to know sick...

Try to look up "A Serbian Film". The description made me gag, and a summary, I could not even finish reading. I felt sick, and was contemplating murder against the makers of that crap. I saw a review of it in yahoo, just documenting the "reviewer's reaction", he said he hated the world and was stuck in bed crying for a few days. I don't blame him.

Check out the description or summary reviews of that movie called "Serbian Film". I can pretty much guarantee that after reading it, that movie Adore becomes a small fry in regards to being disgusting and reprehensible, to the point that it sadly barely registers.

Though yeah, during that time, they were comparing what was the worst movie in the world.
If it was Human Centipede or whatever, and they mentioned that one which was even worse.

Just reading part of the synopsis made me feel sick and almost cry.
There are people that actually watched that damn thing. I'd be hating life if I had to.
Can't pay me enough to watch that crap.

But hey, like I said, I guaranteed that it would make the premise of Adore seem tame in comparison.

Unfortunately, I gave Baitball an example of something much much worse.
The worst thing I could think of, which I earned hate. I deserve it though.

Love in America....complicated.

Friendship...complicated.

Family....complicated.

It really was easier following a few simple rules. Why do they hate SIMPLICITY???
