When do you stop trusting an "A" frame?

I've had an "A" frame for a porch swing, in what seems like forever. If there is no signs of rot, can you consider it safe? Can it crack without warning after, say, 20 years?

I remember hearing that most teak is logged irresponsibly and it it's practically endangered at this point. IIRC, it's a "blue fin tuna" of the wood world.
