(21,046 posts)After you make it according to the directions, add a drained can of chunk light tuna and another half-cup or so of grated cheese. Garlic and parsley on top helps.
Then it will have more protein.
You're welcome.
If you get the kind with velveeta, I can't help you. That stuff is plastic.

a body needs its daily does of unknown chemicals and mutant orange color to stay healthy!
Frozen peas are always good and I used to like fish sticks with my mac and cheese and peas so add some fish sticks too for a complete meal.

(32,100 posts)Or, a mixture. Here's a great recipe using broccoli and several others. It's from Annie's, another brand. I'm sure the Kraft will work just as well. Scroll down a bit to "Bunnies in the Garden":

Annie's usually has several other recipes using their pasta mixes, but their recipe page seems to be fouled up at the moment.
I sometimes make a sort of tuna casserole using the mac 'n' cheese, broccoli, and a can of tuna. It's one of my desperation dishes I make when I'm hungry, and it's too late to make something more complicated.

But I always like spinach with my macaroni and cheese.
And hot dogs cut up in it.
This is probably why Anthony Bourdain doesn't seek my culinary advice.

While you're at it, toss the powdered cheese envelope unless you really like that shit. The sour cream or if you're trying to be healthy unsweetened plain yogurt adds some sharpness to the powder cheese sauce. Reduce the milk slightly.

Add some fresh hot-peppers and jack cheese.

(1,867 posts)Make M&C, cube, season, and skillet cook some chicken, add chicken, extra cheese and vegetable of choice (my wife likes Broccoli, but peas or fresh green beans will work too). Put in baking dish, coat with cheese, bake at 350 till cheese is melty and golden brown on top (25m or so),
Mac & Cheese Caserole....it's the BOMB!
OR, for the less health conscious...
Make Mac & Cheese, slice and brown your favorite kind of sausage (pre cooked, polish, brats, or just plain hot dogs will do), add to M&C with can of Nalley Valley Chilli, keep on burner until warmed through.

I use two cans of canned stewed tomatoes, cut the tomatoes into smaller pieces, and add a little water with a teaspoon of cornstarch mixed in to make the liquid less runny.
We usually have cooked string beans with this.
