(34,139 posts)The one time I tried to put a harness on my cat he tore my arm up. Then, when my husband tried to help, he tore my husband's arm up. We did get the harness on but while we were cleaning the blood off, he managed to get it off - I think he used a tesseract to do it.

(32,099 posts)Mine always laid there like they were in a straight jacket. Never could get the used to a harness. The two I cat-sit are fine wearing their "jackets", however.

(34,139 posts)He used to attack me regularly, now only when he's out of food. And now I can actually pet him - most of the time. When he weighed 4 ounces he beat up and terrorized my husband's big 18-20 pound cat. He hasn't slowed down much even though he's 12 years old.

... was most gentle cat that I've ever had -- BOTH those qualities
were a big part of what I liked so much about her) was called NoName
(a psuedo-Tohono O'Odham name pronounced "no-NAH-h'MAY) and she
didn't like the harness.... at first.
.
She made it difficult for me to get it on her for the first two or three
days, though she didn't get violent (she never EVER got violent -- she
was the sweetest cat I've ever had). We didn't go for walks until she
adjusted to it (about 2-3 days, four hours per day).
.
When we did, it was GREAT fun. The neighbor's tuxedo would go for
walks on a leash, but would plop down for five minutes every 100
yards or so (my neighbor took a book with her.)
.
Not NoName, she would TROT along the whole trip, sometime at my
heels and sometimes at the limits of the 15-foor retractable leash.
.
Every walk was an ADVENTURE.
.
I miss her so much.

(4,373 posts)Kitten stiffened her legs and fell onto her side - just like Arte Johnson on his tricycle on Laugh-in (for anyone else who's older than dirt).
Never tried it again, just gave away the harness and leash.
