Male staff on some of Stockholms commuter trains who wore skirts to work in protest have emerged victorious after their employer lifted a ban on wearing shorts, transport company Arriva said on Monday.

The 30-year-old Akersten said Sunday the response from customers has been only positive.
Arriva, the company that runs the train line, hasn't stopped the drivers. Arriva spokesman Tomas Hedenius says the company wants its staff to look "nice and proper," but can't stop men from wearing "women's clothes" if that's what they want because it would be discrimination.

(1 post)In the end, it appears that the Swedish skirt rebellion did the trick... and the train company has decided to lift the ban. Shorts will be allowed this summer, according to a news... good luck to everyone,

(42,663 posts)that they are complaining about how hot it is driving a commuter train in Sweden when I see construction crews and lawn crews in Texas working outside all summer long wearing pants and long-sleeved shirts to protect themselves from the sun.
