The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsMy 1st impression, a HIT, now not that sure. (Leann RIMES)
I don't follow "artists." Things either filter down to my level or they don't. So she's on the talkshow circuit, "peddling jams and jellies" (credit Carol CHANNING for the line), and yesterday when she was on GMA, I had to look up at the t.v. because her delivery was edgy and raw and (what's always important to me) tuneful (as Rethug EISENHOWER said about TCHAIKOVSKY). I'd heard of tabloid rumblings about her runaway marriage and feuding with the bio mother of her stepkids. A 2nd hearing for me doesn't fare that well.

(30,994 posts)The video is half of how stunning the recording is.....for me, anyway.....I love to see musicians working together like that.
Playing quietly is hard as hell.

(4,465 posts)But she lost me somewhere around the second half mark. I started thinking about the lyrics she was singing-
Her personal life got in the way. She's singing what she knows, telling a story as Snoop would say but she's gotta live with 'what she's done' and how it's effected public perception. It definitely took away from the song for me.
But it's pretty, really pretty.
