I'll just go with the HBO series.
That book with the afterword "A Feast of Crows" was the only book, that after I read it, I almost threw across the street.

In reality, the good guy doesn't always win, the prince doesn't always get the princess, and not all the nice people live happily every after.
In my opinion, it's somewhat refreshing to see good guys that aren't invincible.
