(66,522 posts)The Kroffts also placed subtle lefty political messages into their shows.
I don't remember any messages necessarily, but that's kind of cool if it's true...

(32,100 posts)Got to wonder what message "Romper Room" was really trying to convey with the "Doobie Dance", too. LOL!
I keep hoping that some of those shows will show up on one of the retro TV channels. Antenna TV just showed up here. (It's replacing the non-stop country music videos--woo hoo!!) They're going to be showing "The Monkees" this summer, but that's about it, as far as kids' shows go.

(5,128 posts)'Bugaloos' was a little un-cartoonish, but still good. I wanted animation. I could get Speed Racer with Japanese art (first) w/ dubbing! My fifth birthday party ended when Speed came on, and I DIDN'T NOTICE EVERYONE LEFT.
I wanted a monkey.
I was well-versed in Looney Tunes and AAP. Saw the Elmers and Bugs they don't show anymore because the War is over. I learned the Marriage of Figaro before I learned I liked opera.
I saw Popeye kick Brutus butt and Bluto butt and Seahag's butt.
Sid & Marty had my number, and I knew even then this must be what good drugs are like.
I was right. There can never be enough Charles Nelson Reilly.
