Has anyone else noticed the hike in gas prices?

I can't be the only person looking at the "dollars and cents" rollers moving a lot faster than the "gallons pumped" rollers at the gas pumps lately. ⛽️

It's risen 45 cents a gallon since the last time I filled up. Of course I don't drive that much anymore, and it's been over a month since I last filled the tank.

Has the price been rising gradually, or has this been a sudden "gotcha?" I must admit, I haven't been watching.

Are the oil companies starting their pre-election "let's get a republican in office again" gouging a little early this year?

I have a hybrid car. The hike in gas prices never makes much difference to me. Scrivener7 Apr 18 #1
Since I only fill up at most, once a month, even if that, I don't worry about the price ups or downs. It's not worth it SWBTATTReg Apr 18 #2

Summer blend is much more expensive. It should go down in the fall when we return to regular gas. jimfields33 Apr 18 #5

to me to worry about this rarely bought item. Instead, the prices at the grocery store worry me (and 'worry' is a strong word, let's just say I'm watching closely). I used to stock up on a lot of things, now I'm more selectively as to when I stock up, some things I don't stock up on anymore.

They're going to cut production at least until November trying to get Trump elected. Also in the fall the largest refinery in the US in Port Arthur (which is Saudi-owned thanks to Trump) will shut down for "maintenance." They want gas at $5 or more heading into the election.

Mine also jumped nearly 50¢ in one day. The warfare in the Middle East is having a big impact, among other things.
