I am still new to receiving Social Security. I was balance my bank accounts and observed a one payment for $55.40 (pending). Well okay. So I log into My Social Security and do not see it. What I do see is a one time payment as of March 27th for my normal monthly payment less the 12 % I ask to be withheld for Federal Taxes. What the heck. I don't see it showing up yet in my account.
Does anybody else have stuff like this happen? I can see a minor adjustment because I got one relating back to the COI issued for 2024. But an extra monthly payment (if is ever shows up in my bank account or listed as a payment in My Social Security). I just don't understand this extra stuff that magically appears in my bank account.
I would appreciate any advice shared by those of you who have been dealing the Social Security longer than I have.

(25,788 posts)I waited 3 hours on the phone. They do have a system where they will call back or you can go to near by SS office. Good Luck

(6,413 posts)I've had two occasions to call Social Security and both times the agents were so helpful and pleasant.
Hope you have a similar experience!

(65,515 posts)I got a letter saying I owed >$14,000 repayment. My vacation payout (6 weeks) & my final bonus all hit after the first of the year. Because I took SS early, I was limited in what I could earn, to $18,000. But, those added up to around $40k, and my sub pay was around $7k for the year. So, they counted $47k, or $29k too much.
They wanted their 14 grand back.
I got a letter from the company confirming that $40k of that was earned the prior year.
I called them, while on the phone forwarded him the email, and 30 seconds later it was case closed. I only made $7k against my limit, so I owed nothing.
Went way easier & faster than I thought it would.
