So, our guitar player helped him learn guitar & I helped him understand how music works.
He actually felt like he was less a musician than the three of us, despite the fact that he was a monster drummer. Sadly, now deceased.
So, that joke actually means something to me.

(11 posts)I'm a drummer in an old geezer band, so I think I can understand some of what your drummer was feeling. My band mates will start talking about a song we're playing, what chord goes where, this chord or that scale, the bridge, the verse etc... (I start thinking what I'm going to have for lunch)...and then they look at me. I tell them just start playing and I'll figure something out.
