Why is Ari Melber doing all these music interviews?

I guess I'm just an old political junkie...but MSNBC in the late afternoon/evening is where political junkies go for their daily fix. If we want to be entertained with musicians we'll turn on YouTube or MTV. I've gotten to be pretty annoyed with his political coverage as well.

6. I found today's rather interesting. I normally don't.

But it’s his show. Nobody has the right to tell him what to do with his own show. (Not saying you did. Just general statement).

He's like the suburban dad who tries to hang out out with his teenaged son's garage band and uses their slang when he talks to anybody under 40.

change channels. No matter what the subject he has some rap lyrics to quote. It embarrasses his guests too.

I get it because mr liberty is a bit younger than I and he gets all Ari's references, so he explains them to me, lol. It's just a hair before my time, and I'm a true prog rocker anyway so it's kinda opposite most of my tastes to begin with. I'm cool with it, because the best of rap, hip-hop, etc. approaches a true art form, but it's just not my jams.
With that said, there are some works that I just LOVE, here are 2, because I'm always open to music:

Gil Scott Heron (technically considered to be jazz) with "The Revolution Wil Not Be Televised"

And

Disposable Heroes of Hipophrisy with "Television - The Drug of the Nation"

10. I stopped watching Ari except when Neal Katyal is on

I used to DVR the show and watch it when the Chris Hayes show was on. Ari’s show does not really deal with legal issues now on the same level Ari used to.

11. Yesterday, in the middle of an interview, he stopped the discussion just to make some hip hop reference.

He does this a lot. The conversation just came to a hard, cold stop. He makes his reference. It seems really cringy and awkward. The guest pretended to laugh. Slowly, the conversation picks up again.

And then I changed the channel to CNN. I can't stand Ari sometimes.

Ari's the only MSNBC personality who continuously interrupts his guests to blurt out "I've only got___seconds left, but..." or "We're about out of time, but..."

And don't even get me started with his unending attempts at being a hip-hop poseur. MSNBC could do so much better.

15. It does result in lost ratings. I am less likely to tune into his show because of these examples.

There's so much competition for my viewing time.

There are many liberal podcasters just waiting for me any time MSNBC disappoints.
