Hirshfield revolutionized the candy industry by individually wrapping his chewy chocolate candies, thus preventing them from sticking together.
Theyre named for his daughter, Clara, whose nickname was Tootsie.

But I'd be afraid to eat one now what with 63 year old teeth and some significant dental work, i.e. crowns, etc.
