Monday. November 20, 1961. Kennestone Hospital. Marietta, GA. 8:16 A.M.

The poster here known as Different Drummer first saw the light of day. A bit of information about how I chose my handle. It comes from the Stone Poneys song "Different Drum." It's appropriate for me because, here in brick red Georgia, I have different views from most folks. I have lost "friends" over it and alienated family members, but I'm not about to "go along to get along" if it doesn't fit how I see myself.

Among others, I share my birthday with our esteemed 46th President. He is 19 years my senior.

In fact, I've gotten where I call it rube red nowadays. Cobb County has improved a lot, but go a few mile north and you are in Majorie Crazy Greene territory.

Great song too.
