The Case for Eating Pizza with a Knife & Fork! 😄

Ok and I happen to be eating pizza right now 👍

Like most people, and certainly a NYC"r I have/had my pizza slices (I loooove pizza) the usual way -
folded in half, let some of the oil drip off, then chomp down. 👍
I'd usually have 2 slices, but sometimes 3.

As I got into my 40's and had trouble losing weight I was eating my then pizzaria, and it dawned on me to try a knife and fork. 🤔
This was decades before Mayor DeBlasio was snarked for that! I had issues w him - but that was not one of them!

Well - I found out it Slowed my eating down! That then cut eating a third slice by 90%!
Thus saving me $, and some extra pounds.
.
A win-win!

And for Fun...

LilBit has always eaten her pizza by hand, but starts at the crust end. And works her way in! And her weight her weight hasn’t changed by more than 5 pounds in 15 years.
Just another DU fun subject, that says,” there is no right way, or wrong way, to LOVE! All you gotta do is have the ability to love something.
Electric, you just made smile,
Thank you,

2. If the slice is very hot and crust is floppy, we both use a fork.

Once it’s cool enough to fold and eat, it’s in the hand. When we get to that last piece and we are stuffed but don’t want to take home, pick it apart with a fork.

Certain styles, like Chicago or Detroit, beg for a fork to avoid wearing half of it, and to savor it rather than desperately trying to suck up bits dripping everywhere.

If I ever make it to Chicago (the last US city I really want to visit) I'll have some there. 👍

7. Native NYer here. If the pizza is too thick or has many toppings, the knife-fork-and-plate method

is acceptable.

But I find pizza does not get along well with standard knives.

So, I place the fat slice on a small cutting board, and eat it with a fork using a round pizza cutter to chop off bite-size slices.

It does slow down the rate of eating, which is always a good thing.

The round-knife method also works well for other sloppy foods like oversized tacos.

16. Depends on the size of the slice and how many toppings.

Usually always use K & F to cut the tip of the slice. Just that's where most things fall off and most difficult to get in your moth w/o making a mess. Once the slice is more manageable, I may stop using a K & F. No real protocol.

17. Depends on whether it's street food pizza or restaurant pizza

Roman style and Neapolitan street pizza - pick up to eat

Restaurant pizza - definite knife and fork.
And because this thread needs pictures!
