We're on the front porch, watching one of the thunderstorms roll through. It's pouring rain, and of course there's thunder and lightening.
So there's a particularly big, distant flash, and I begin counting out loud:
One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Six
Seven
Eight
Nine
Ten
Eleven
Twelve
Thirteen
Fourteen
Jeez, where the-
Just then, a HUGE bolt strikes not more than a hundred yards away and directly in front of us, followed immediately by a sharp blast of thunder!
We both jump into each others arms like startled jackrabbits, and in the process she clipped me in the jaw.
No damage, and we had a good laugh about it.
She warned me about counting when the next bolt of lighting flashed, though!
On the plus side, we got an inch of very welcome rain.

It was like God saying "okay, HERE'S the damn thunder!"

(56,829 posts)I got socked in the jaw by the woman I was with at the time - and my jaw was sore for a few days afterwards she hit me so hard. And, yes, it was an accident as well.
