Lucy Ricardo
Even as a kid I thought she was a thoroughly despicable person.

(33,688 posts)For some reason I always hated the gormless little twit with an undying passion, even when I was a small boy. The irritating voice, the sheer gutlessness of his character and lack of anything resembling a personality set my teeth on edge from day one.
I was, am, and always will be a Bugs Bunny and Popeye kind of guy.

(3,173 posts)I've sometimes wondered what the members of the Mickey Mouse Club really thought about mice. There they were, dressing up in mouse ears and pretending to be great fans of Mickey . . . but what if Mickey got loose in the studio? Betcha Roy would step on him!

What was he doing there?

(20,176 posts)Unbearable unlikable whiner.
Edit: No, Jo Bennett was the character played by Kathy Bates on The Office. I liked her.

(28,394 posts)She seems like a very nice person, but I could never stand her over-the-top skits with all the mugging and hamming it up. It used to annoy me that she always had to sing with whomever was guesting on her show. She can't sing; she yells. And that "Tarzan" yodel that everyone thinks is so hysterical is just idiotic, IMO.
I used to watch her show, but it seemed to be all about HER all the time.
I was never a big fan of Lucy either. Probably for the same reasons I don't care for Carol Burnett. Everything was overly exaggerated even her hair and makeup!

I loved Art Carney, though.

(48,217 posts)His variety show wasn't any better.
frogmarch
(12,160 posts)saw him in anything else, and I saw "The Honeymooners" just a few times. I liked Art Carney, and that's the only reason I watched it at all.

(12,160 posts)movies. I might have avoided them because he was in them. If I ever have a chance to see them, I will, and I'll see if I agree with you that he's brilliant in them.

Well played.
Tom Ripley
(4,945 posts)Gleason did;
The Reginald Van Gleason sketches, The Poor Soul, his physical comedy (incredible physical grace for a big man),
his dramatic film roles
Personally, he was a real heel when he teamed up with Anita Bryant and organized a youth decency rally in response to the Doors infamous Miami gig.

(32,100 posts)But, I never cared for her, and I don't get all the gushy nostalgia over her show. She was more annoying than anything. I never cared for Mickey Mouse or any of the other Disney characters, either. I'm more of a Jay Ward (Bullwinkle, etc.) and Looney Tunes fan.

(10,893 posts)Ash is an imbecile who uses Electric-type attacks from his Pikachu against Rhydons, and always gets lucky and wins in tight battles despite having bad type match ups and unevolved Pokemon. And he always acts surprised whenever Team Rocket shows up, even though they appear almost every episode. Charizard is an overrated Pokemon, and its stats in the game itself are not up to the hype it has been experiencing. I think that so many other Pokefans get an orgasm over its draconic image and how Ash's Charizard acts like a badass in the anime, but I don't see what's so special about it besides that. Its special attack and speed are average, while it is pretty frail in terms of physical defense and special defense.
I also have never really cared for Stan Marsh from South Park. The show sort of treats him as the leader out of the 4 boys, but he's not as funny as the other 3. And he's the main one who does the annoying preachy scenes at the end of almost every SP episode (the "you know, I learned something..." scenes).

(3,650 posts)I couldn't stand that character.
Populist_Prole
(5,364 posts)Too much "over joking". I mean he was funny enough and there was enough humor in the situation and how the cast played well off one another. He didn't have to try to inject a smartass comment into every exchange other that when he's being preachily anti-war. I found myself snorting ENOUGH!! sometimes with the forced humor.

(1,353 posts)to be Groucho Marx.
Populist_Prole
(5,364 posts)I love the show but even when I was a kid I thought she overplayed the "I want to get into show business" meme. It seemed to be the most common plot angle to every episode. I was also taken the way her character was so determined to break into show business that she would do things that would absolutely torpedo Ricky's career ( and by extension, their livelihoods ) if the situations happened in real life.

(1,259 posts)Endera was right about him. Samantha was a talented witch who could have given the family A rich adventurous life but he only wanted her to be housewife and suppress her powers. He also looked like a chimpanzee. I also hated all of the Flintstones.

(3,879 posts)Couldn't understand how the show stayed on the air.
Doris Day. Gag!
Bob Hope. Yeah, I know he entertained the troops, but he got it all on film and exploited the hell out of it.
Danny Kaye.

Jerry Seinfeld and the whole cast of that stupid show. Wow, a show about a bunch of amoral people! HI-Larious!

(3,173 posts)Yup. Professor Jerry Lewis of the University of Southern California. Never cared for any of Jerry Lewis' incarnations:
- Wacky kid in the Dean Martin movies
- Serious, dramatic Jerry Lewis; or
- The emcee of the MDA telethon

(15,139 posts)entertain the troops. But, he turned those shows into tv specials and made plenty of $$ off them. I don't think he was nearly the humanitarian he was made out to be.
