Related: Culture Forums, Support Forumsthis is the most beautiful evening we've had in probably a month
we had a nice rain about six pm, didn't last long but it came down pretty good. it's still been in the mid 90s, but the temp dropped before the rain and the clouds stuck around, so it's a glorious 73 degrees. it's taken til midnight or later to get this cool for most of the last month.
i'm sitting on my porch, listening to the jays shout and wishing i had a beer. but it's a good night.

(31,539 posts)We're still sitting at 94.7 at 9:53 after a high today of 104. We do have a small chance for rain for the next few days. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

(5,364 posts)I know how you feel about rare comfort during torrid summers. When that happens I experience euphoria.
The latest example was 5 days ago when we were on day 3 of 100+ temperatures, high humidity....and no rain. Well last sunday late afternoon I saw distant thunderclouds trying to form. I didn't think much of it. I went inside and surfed the net and read. I heard a rumble of thunder, but it was still bright out. Next thing I know I hear the shooshing of wind and leaves and whatnot hitting the house. I go out into the garage ( I left the door open to dissipate the heat of my car ) and the trees were swaying, COOL breezes purged my inferno of a garage of residual hot air, and thunder really cracked as the clouds thickened and rain began to fall. I ran inside to grab two fingers of whiskey, but before I went back out to watch the show, I checked my thermometer: The temperature fell from 103 to 68 in a matter of 6 or 7 minutes. I was internally whooping and joyous at the back of the heatwave being broken...if only for a while, and reveled in breathing deep the cool air as I got a buzz and watched the storm. Simple little thing really made my day.

(24,146 posts)went out for a smoke around a quarter to five, looked out the window an hour later and knew what was coming. went out again to enjoy the air, clean and smooth on my skin. thunder and lightning. and, of course, i'd left the windows cracked, so i ran through the big, cold drops.
made my day
