That's an interesting hobby. My sewing machine is a tiny old portable Singer that only sews straight forward and back, so sewing knit material is out of my realm.
Have you ever noticed how some elastic braid lasts for a long time and some doesn't? I've wondered what the difference is.

(21,046 posts)Those little black things with a 14 lb. head. Mine was all steel and my grandmother bought it circa 1936. Steel sewing machines last forever.
Quilters love 'em and people who live in RVs. They were selling them at the International Quilt Show some years ago for $600.00.
You need a heavier weight machine and ballpoint needles to sew knits. I have a singer Slant-o-Matic circa 1956 that is larger and can accommodate medium to heavy fabric.
Both of them belonged to Mom.
I don't know what Applegrove sews on.

(118,880 posts)was going to build a webpage so displayed all of my swimsuits along the fence in the rock garden. Just so happened that the flower on the swimsuit matched the tiger lillies in the cottage garden. Complete coincidence.
