fireworks are legal - and I'm talking big booming rocket ones - from June 30 thru July 3 from 8 p.m. to midnight; on July 4 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. and on July 5-6, back to the 8-12. Needless to say some people can't wait until night - they start early in the day.

probably because they banned fireworks I think because of the drought and the fires elsewhere.

The Thursday paper had two full-page ads for fireworks. The one we dreaded seeing said:

"You want to be the BIG BOY on the block this year? Stop in for the "GODFATHER" mega package - only $550"

It started about a week ago and will go for another week. I hope the guys at the fire station are well rested.

a small logging town about 90 mins. outside of Seattle.

No M80's for them...they were shooting off sticks of dynamite! Never again!

Scared me half to death!

I can't think of the name but maybe you might find it in a pet store.

It is suppose to make the dog feel like it is being held.

Poor Heidi.

I think when the neighbors start their fireworks crap around here I'm going to take out my guns and plug a few dozens holes in the front yard. They'll know from the sound that it ain't firecrackers and I'm not playing.

Fireworks are stupid, dangerous, and expensive with no positive upside for their existence.

She's getting older - over 10; was a shelter girl - on the last day they were going to keep her - she'd been there 60 days and was/is a big girl - when we adopted her seven years ago. She's our sweetie.

love their "drugs', which I give them during thunderstorms.

Excel Calm-quil calming tabs. Natural ingredients. I give them each a couple and then put them in their crates. Then I take an old towel and spray it with dog appeasing pheremone spray and drape it across the front.

They usually fall asleep

My Kid doesn't mind at all but couple of the cats go hide in the linen. I hate the 4rth for that part but also because we're surrounded by tinder up here.

She's getting much worse each year. Last year was terrible for her.

Anyone have any recommendations for something natural? I really hate to start with the power drugs right away - maybe something herbal will be enough to calm some of her anxiety. I've seen a couple of suggestions upthread but would appreciate any feedback....

My two dogs handle it all relatively well, but *I* hate the fireworks! In the large arena, done by professionals, they can be beautiful, but in my opinion, there is NO place for bottle rockets, etc. in a residential area.

There are always people who shoot them off, only to say "I'm sorry" when someone's house catches on fire. It's absurd that people do not understand the risks involved for a momentary 'pop' and 'flash'.
