Memo From Purgatory: Staying safe; trying to stay sane. Anybody up?

Spent the day surfing the net and trying not to look out the window at our Blade Runner-ish world...

This isn't Hell: I'm warm, dry, indoors out of the smoke, plenty to eat, and with entertaining distractions.

But I can't wait for it to end...

I want Notre Saison d'Enfer to be over...

I am ususally up until the early morning hours. I love the quiet of the night. Read my Kindle books on my laptop.....sip on my wine.....listen to the coyotes howling....such a mournful sound.

But I'm waiting until my grandson returns home. No rush, really. It's wonderful to have him here...

Been a little more stressed than usual lately because I'm tired of all this crap. I just want it to be next year.

We are slowly getting the coastal smoke returning to the Rockies. Along with our own fires' smoke. I'm safe, warm, but not sleeping well lately so I'm up.

Except for the crows. They didn’t seem to be bothered by the apocalyptic hellscape.

10 inches from my face in bed. This is as bad as its been since 2012.

Particulate matter in the smoke really gets to me. I wake up with a lot of sand in my eyes. Phlegmy. Heavy chest. Scratchy throat.

And I have a sore tooth!

I’m far from any smoke, but i have the same feeling. I just want it to end.

My dream: November 3 is a blowout.

I am in Seattle area...dismal smoky visage to be sure...on top of a pandemic and its related fun. Bad news...I saw some locusts...looks like they were ready to swarm Good news....one had a little bumper sticker on its abdomen...it said "California or bust!". I think we avoid the locusts and then fight through the zombie apocalypse and we are home free!

Smoke cleared enough to see lights 1/4 mile away over the water.

How are they landing at Sea Tac is beyond me.

The smoke has turned into fog, it's cool, damp and it smells like ocean and seaweed again. I made my first grocery run in a week today, and tomorrow, if all goes well, I'll go outside for a walk.

I will never take clean air for granted again. I'm just sucking it up with enormous gratitude tonite. Also thinking of those who are still smothering, and getting burnt out.

Sending you peace tonite.
