(44,980 posts)The cats in the video are a Persian (or maybe exotic longhair) and an exotic short hair. His Persian cat just seems to be particularly cuddly and friendly.

(115,947 posts)I have a long-haired cat with soft, fine fur that mats easily, but she turns into a hairy chainsaw when I even try to brush her. I wish she was as tolerant as Eric.

(21,731 posts)who got like that when I came near him with a brush or comb. He also raised hell at the vet's when they tried to touch him. I finally found a vet who did both farm animals and pets, who handled him perfectly with long gloves and quick action.
When not at the vet's, and not feeing threatened with a brushing, he was sweet, gentle, and playful. My Jekyl and Hyde kitty.

(115,947 posts)because she's too much of a handful when conscious for a groomer or even a vet to handle, although otherwise she's a nice, friendly cat. We tried a groomer once and it didn't go well. She now has a lion cut and actually seems a lot more comfortable.

(21,731 posts)I tried to get her used to it as a kitten, but she fought it. from the start. Fortunately, her hair is short to medium length.
The one just before her was an orange tabby who LOVED being brushed. He was a very affectionate cuddler. This current one is affectionate on her own terms and loves human company but is not a lap cat. Hides as soon as she sees me holding a brush. She has a fuzzy undercoat and needs occasional brushing so I try to bribe her with treat lures and then rewards after we get through the ordeal. Iffy success so far.

(3,539 posts)Cats have their own very unique personalities. I have a calico whos super skittish and talkative and likes pets and belly rubs, and I have a black and white cow cat who is too cool to be skittish or distracted. Hell just walk through the door without looking at me. I have to grab him sometimes and give him some cuddles just to make sure he knows hes loved. He purrs through it then gently extracts himself from the situation so he can go on his way.

(25,926 posts)It's my completely unscientific opinion that the cuddliness of a specific cat depends on both his own nature and the human or humans he's lived with.

(44,980 posts)Mine was friendly when he wanted to get fed. Once fed, he ignored me until the next expected feeding. But he sure was cute, even if selfish.
