Coming up on 30 years since the show began.
So many great actors, guest stars, (including Chevy Chase in a dramatic role,) good plotlines.
There's a Youtube channel devoted to it.

(7,517 posts)My hubby and I have seen every episode several times. Weve gotten to the point where we know what the story line is just from watching the opening scene. I agree, great writing, acting, and characters. Yes a do remember the one with Chevy Chase.
One of my favorite episodes (because of plot twists and turns) was the one about the comedy club owner who killed his wife. And that same perp and crime was revisited later on with a new detective.

(7,947 posts)There was a horrific killing this week in Manhattan (the tech CEO dismembered by his assistant), and I am reluctant to admit that my very first thought was, "This would be a GREAT Law and Order episode!"

I still watch SVU every now and then, but not regularly as it's become almost comical in how the show has essentially become about how to torture its lead character. Seriously, Olivia Benson has been taken hostage more times than I can count. Her son has been kidnapped. She's been falsely accused of child abuse. Her brother and ex boyfriend died in the same season. And that's what I could rattle off from the top of my head. I know it's always good to show how a character deals with adversity, but in this case it's ridiculous!
