I don't think they've forgotten that they were gods once.

Ancient Egyptian: Bast and Bastet. Warrior and protector of grain and homes.

But if that was true, cats would have knocked everything off the edge by now.

I don't know. It takes a lot of work to manufacture this much squee.

Victorian times instead of Middle Ages

In the Middle Ages, Europeans believed that cats were evil familiars of witches. Some cats were hung to death or burned. Some towns.drove cats away.

People paid the price of their cruelty to cats when there were no cats around to keep the rat population down during the Bubonic Plague.

The Ancient Egyptians were much wiser. Cats were revered because they kept the rats out of the grain storage areas. Harming or killing a cat was a killin' offense.

I have a video about wild and domestic cats. It describes how the Egyptian reverence for cats was used against them in war. The Greek army had cats painted on their shields in the belief that Egyptians would not strike such a sacred symbol. The Egyptians lost the battle, although there is no proof that it was due to the cat shields.

My cat is so convinced of her own divine superiority that I gave her the added second name of Bastet, the feline Egyptian god.

Bastet was the more gentle and domesticated aspect of Bast or Sekhmet, the warrior goddess. Serious bad news when her blood was boiling.

sweetness to indignant anger in a split second. Her first name is Ember, due to coloring and temperament. She is a tortoiseshell tabby (aka torbie) with black and gray stripes, like charcoal and ash, and red streaks here and there, like the embers of a fire, which can be cozy or can flare up into flames.

get her a charm of the sun. Sekhmet wore the solar disk. She was the daughter of Ra, the sun god.

who has never been outdoors in her life and she is 4 years old. I live in a city at the corner of one of the busiest intersections in town. Far too risky to let her out.
