Does anyone know anything about Hawaiian Kapas or Tapas?

Among the things in my Mom's house my sister found a piece that was labeled (she thought) "taga" with geometric patterns. With it was a paper describing it. We think Mom used it when she gave talks to school classes about her time living in Hawaii as a Navy Nurse during WWII.

I found lots of information here: http://www.kapahawaii.com/

What we are not sure about is if this is an old kapa/tapa she may have gotten when she was living in Hawaii or if it a newer one she purchased after the art was revived during the 1960s and 1970s.

Right now I am having issues posting pictures. When I can, I will put up a picture of the kapa/tapa.

I'm currently reading "Hawaii" by James Michener and those words are used. Thanks for giving me something visual.
