I am one of those who knew very little about Grant. He was quite a man. I am going to read his memoirs to learn even more of him.

He learned lots of things we both were unaware of.

Without equivocation, I can say that Grant, more than Lincoln, saved this country.

And yes, I too am ordering Grant's memoirs. It was so sad he died improvised because he was just too trusting of business people.

I love Leonardo DiCaprio for producing this miniseries - it was another one of his slaps at rightwing racists. 🙏

I just recently saw the Ken Burns series on the Roosevelt's and it also was excellent. Grant was one who saved the country only to have the racists rise in the south. After seeing this series I am a great admirer of him. I also agree the actor who played Grant was excellent.

...in an emotionally riveting way. His Civil War Series was it masterpiece. My good friend in NYC did the sound editing for that series.

You're right, "Grant was one who saved the country only to have the racists rise in the south."
And too many are still at it. 😠 But not all of us are like that, t.g.

tonight as soon as I finish the last episode of the Hulu mini-series Mrs. America (which I'm watching now). I can't believe how much I didn't know just how evil, manipulative, cunning, and deceptive Phyllis Schlafly was.

The Grant mini-series has been great! I have known nothing about Grant (and I'm a history buff but I just never came across anything about him). Major KUDOS to Leo DiCaprio! He does so much and in such an understated but effective way. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him.

I just finished episode 2.

Glad I have TiVo, because it has way too many commercials.

So happy I can zip right through them so I don't lose the thread.

What an interesting, impressive career you must have had as a curator, appalachiablue, digging deep into Civil war history!

Bet you have stories to tell.

Yes, please, let's have one on FDR, one of my favorite people of all history. Assisted by many intelligent, good women, he changed the country for the better.

What an interesting professional career you've had and you know some very impressive folks.

On edit: Ohmygoodness! I just realized/remembered that I met Rob Coles decades ago too, here in Wmsbrg. Yes, he was in character, of course, and would not deviate one iota to answer a whispered question after he had sat down beside me in the audience.
