He’s a cherry lobbed parakeet
We tried calling him/ her Cherry. Bit it didn’t feel right.
Gerry lets me feed him bananas and sunflower seeds from my hand. My neighbor got him to go on her shoulder.
The “parakeets” that folks buy in America are not parakeets. They are budgies originally from Australia.
Those are feathers.

I can almost hear all the jungle noises just looking at them.

On an aside, you can eliminate all the text you see by deleting those parts Show up as text. Just leave in the html that is not visible because the picture is there (covering it, so to speak).

on your photo hosting platform. Most of them have various URL versions available for each photo, looks like you're using one that's likely labeled 'for message boards', but that's not the best one for DU, it's meant for less advanced software than what we have here.

Instead use the one labeled 'direct link' or the like. Shouldn't have any tags wrapping it when you paste into the message window of DU, should just be a URL, ending in .jpg.

We have been here since Sept 1.
It’s been our dream for 13 years. It’s coming true almost exactly as dreamed.

Even the craziest parts like a visa run to Nicaragua has been dreadful and awesome at the same time. We go again soon!! 😳

Nice to know you are out there and appreciate you reaching out to us. One meets the nicest people in Costa Rica.

Pura Vida is exactly right!!

deliver food to our door because we just don't feel like going to the store. We can order something we don't need on Amazon at midnight and it's delivered by UPS the next day. We can (why?) instantly know that someone is wanting us for some reason, and why.

To go back to a simpler time...To go back to a time when we had to be creative, to use our brains and ingenuity to create what we need, to just 100% chill and relax, and take in the birds and the beauty of nature and simple, human interactions with people sounds so idylic. You are the lucky ones!

Congratulations on realizing your dream. We’re quite “birdy” in this house...love watching them, feeding them and identifying them. What a treat. The Sun Conure on my shoulder was quite interested in Gerry when I enlarged his photo.
