for boys. Girls were doing "okay" born at only 24 weeks gestation. Of course this was 26 years ago, so I assume things may have progressed medically since then.

But still, your grandson is very lucky (luck along with daily miracles from the NICU staff no doubt) to be doing as well as you report.

Reminds me of my mother's story. She arrived at just 27 weeks, at home, in what was thought to be a miscarriage at first, but she survived, thanks to quick-thinking adults who were present. Spent months in a hospital and even after her release there was concern about how well she would thrive. That was 98 years ago. She lived to be 90.

May your little guy continue growing strong and thrive to a ripe old age.
