The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI am re-framing my approach to making $ since I've been disabled for most of the past year
I have been battling my own auto immune stuff since nov 2018, then had a bad car accident in July that threw me for a loop, then the flare started again, and I STILL can't complete the physical therapy for my accident until this calms down. Needless to say, while I have been seeking a part time job...I am also painfully aware that I really can't do the typical workplace anymore.
I am grateful that I have skills and can look for freelancing gigs. I decided to be proud of my AGE/experience and go for the gigs that will be short term and good payout. I am also brancing out locally to help small businesses of friends to do websites, etc. Got a interview with a new non-profit that needs social media and communications/exposure help, so I am going to offer things on a gig by gig basis, while also helping him find starter grants (and writing myself into it) so there's help growing his structure.
I have some amazing pictures of the tidepools, ocean, and Lake Tahoe area... so I am going on Shutterstock and others to upload and see if there's any interest.
Gotta stay positive.
It's harder to heal with the added stress of worrying about how to keep the lights on and food in the fridge (with teens in the house too!)
Today I called the electric company and worked out something...
Tomorrow I have to face the dentist for an emergency toothache (on top of everything... ugh...my body is trying to kill me)
Anyway, just wanted to share. I am hoping that this year will be a turning point so I can create an lifestyle that will keep me healthy and ease recovery. I have to make my physical health the priority...I ain't getting any younger either!

(2,944 posts)helpful to you. Takes about 6 weeks to notice improvement once you're taking enough --- maybe 20 drops of 1200 mg. CBD 2x day??? CBD does not require a marijuana card.
A few years ago I developed Hashimotos. My number was high. Refused to accept the diagnosis and started my own therapy which included CBD, zinc, selenium, probiotics, and an antioxidant. Did not alter diet and my numbers have been excellent for more than 2 years and I get tested by my NMD every 6 months.
Good luck.
