he wouldn't waste his time (& money) on snake oil like acupuncture. I'm betting the pooch doesn't like it much either.

It helps, no one knows precisely why, though theories abound.

acupuncture has no credible basis either in theory or in empirical evidence i.e clinical studies. Many "studies" of acupuncture have been carried out but they are ALL seriously flawed in some manner, some more so than others, and most acupuncture "theories" are completely contrary to science based medicine.

Anecdotal evidence for acupuncture abounds alright but anecdotal evidence, and personal experience, are simply unreliable measures of efficacy.

Just because a veterinarian happens to be the provider says nothing as to whether acupuncture is effective. I would suggest your dog's outcome would have been the same had she been given acupuncture or not. Sometimes just a trip to a vet is itself enough to perk a dog up, at least for a while.
