(33,512 posts)We found out after he died, but my father apparently knew about it for years. My cousins sort of wondered about their half siblings, but never found them.
My cousin had a girlfriend who had twins when they were 18. My cousin denied paternity, but his girlfriend won the court case and he paid child support. When the twins reached adulthood, they looked up my aunt, and she said they looked just like my cousin, and had many of his mannerisms. She acknowledged being their Grandmother.
My cousin is something of a philanderer, even into his senior years. I've lost count of the number of women he's lived with, but his current wife, who was his girlfriend when he was married to his previous wife, sort of just accepts that this is the way he is.
I don't get any of that stuff. I'm very much into fidelity. I was wild in my youth maybe, but I've been married more than 3 decades and never thought once of being with anyone other than the woman I love.

(14,118 posts)At least that's all we know about. I met my half uncle when I was around 8 years old and he was a little older. He was accepted as family by the rest of my relatives. As an adult he was in communication with my Mom.
These things happen in the usual way. In my grandparents' case I will defend Grandpa by saying that he and Grandma separated and since he was Catholic he couldn't get a divorce. Grandma never remarried or had any further relationships as far as I know.
This is how we wind up related to everyone in the world! LOL
