I believe it may have been in the 80's
to be fair, many times I volunteered to work for someone else so they could have Christmas off, because I just don't care

it's a hoot
one time I put in for a Sunday off and my boss came up to me and said, why do you need Sunday off - I said, I dunno, I just want a break, I want to lay around and watch TV......he said others wanted it off......I asked, why do so many people want Sunday off? He said because it is Easter Sunday. I said OH, I did not know that. "DENIED" he said, as he walked away
