Or maybe, like me, you are a post wrecker?

(17,039 posts)on average every two hours, 17 minutes and 32.8 seconds. Don't ask how I know.
ProudLib72
(17,984 posts)I go through phases. Some days I will rec just about everything I read. Other days I won't rec a single thing. I'm not even sure what the point of recs is besides getting your post on the home page under "trending."
True Dough
(17,039 posts)You rec'd one of them. That's 50%. I'll give you a pass. But think about it, ProudLib, you don't excel in life at 50%. Let's get you rec'ing ALL of my threads so you can feel better about yourself!
ProudLib72
(17,984 posts)I need to go back and change that right now!
Have you ever compared the rec count for serious posts versus Lounge posts? There is critical, need to know information versus "Make me feel better right now" silliness. For example, a post about Pelosi demanding the Rump's tweets be condemned as racist will get the same number of recs as cute kittehs. Those are DUers' top priorities now.
True Dough
(17,039 posts)The informative and anti-Trump admin threads get my recs and the Lounge "aw" threads get 'em too. It's not surprising that some DUers embrace the "feel good" posts in an era of the Orange Shitgibbon.
Speaking of "oh, sweet" threads, have you checked out this one?

Go give it a rec, ProudLib!!
ProudLib72
(17,984 posts)But I just watched it and gave it a rec. Yes, that is definitely a much needed feel good post!

(17,984 posts)Maybe it's because the news is always the same damned thing. You get jaded. I don't really blame you.

(14,268 posts)How exactly do we rec a post. I know how to wreck a post, but rec? No clue.
ProudLib72
(17,984 posts)You can always undo it later on when you get to feeling contrary.

ProudLib72
(17,984 posts)Don't know if I need to rec it, though. Within minutes it will be up in the hundreds already.
That's the other thing. Do you bother reccing posts that already have a lot of recs? It's a question I struggle with.
PoindexterOglethorpe
(25,684 posts)Very rarely, but only if there are very few recs already and I really think it ought to wind up on the trending or greatest pages.

(202,205 posts)If I agree with or really like something, that earns a rec from me. I figure if someone here went to the trouble, they deserve a rec - which allows more people to see the post - and I also know how much recs of appreciation also mean to me.
ProudLib72
(17,984 posts)If the content is about something horrible that happened, do you rec it? There is no way to inform other users that you are reccing the importance of the message rather than approving of the content.
Rhiannon12866
(202,205 posts)My example at the time was Sarah Palin, do we rec to point out how ridiculous something she said or did was or would it be interpreted as approval of her behavior? That's when a reply is appropriate, to give an opinion of the recced post - even if it's just a facepalm. If it's important news, good or bad, sending it back to the top so more people will see it is the right thing to do.
