(791 posts)1. Saw this at the time...
It was quite emotional and a fitting send off to the last great Aussie PM.
That William Barton is a bit of alright too.

(23,656 posts)2. Very nice. I enjoyed it.
Who were those folks that left before the performance was finished? They received a round of applause. Were they family? Or current members of Aussie gov't?
A little off topic. I'm watching 2 Australian shows on netflix.
One is Secret City, a political intrigue series. 2 seasons, 6 episodes each.
Beneath the peaceful facade of Canberra, there is a secret city of deals and divided loyalties, lies and opportunism. Political journalist Harriet Dunkley thinks she knows the city, but as she forces her way closer to the truth she discovers a conspiracy. The subterfuge that she finds threatens her career and life, in addition to endangering the freedom of all Australians. The drama series is based on novels by Chris Uhlmann and Steve Lewis.

The other is "Glitch" a little science fictiony about people coming back from the dead. 2 seasons 6 episodes each
James Hayes (Patrick Brammall) is a small town policeman in Yoorana, Victoria. He is called to the local cemetery in the middle of the night after seven people have risen from the dead in perfect health but with no memory of their identities. They are determined to discover who they are and what has happened to them. James struggles to keep the case hidden from his colleagues, his family, and the world, with the help of local doctor Elishia McKellar (Genevieve O'Reilly). The seven people are all linked in some way, and the search begins for someone who knows the truth about how and why they have returned.[7]

(791 posts)3. They were family members
Not sure if it was planned that way but it added to the occasion.
Glitch was good, one I want to revisit but have not seen Secret City yet.
If you want another good memorial performance for a past Aussie PM then Gough Whitlam's had an excellent song with an extraordinary story behind it.
