Question for real Game of Thrones fans/scholars:

What the hell ever happened to Arya's direwolf?

I remember that in the books, it ran away, but she was somehow still psychically connected to it. I can't remember if the show even went there.

So where is it?

while there was a bit of recognition, she watched as it went off with its pack.

I haven't read the books and I'm certainly no "scholar", but I do remember the scene. (I tend to remember all things canine)

I don't remember exactly where, but there is a mention of a roaming pack of wolves terrorising the countryside, let by a fearsome, enormous wolf, which is clearly Arya's direwolf.

The meeting between them last season was probably what they call "fan service".

they roam the Riverlands, near Riverrun.
In the books, Arya wargs into Nymeria several times but so far they have not crossed paths

I can't remember which one of the kids experienced this, but at some point two of them are warged into their wolves and the wolves sense each other's presence but they don't actually find each other.

This might be the scene around the tower in the lake, in which Bran, Rickon, Osha and Hodor are in the tower with ShaggyDog and Summer; Jon who is with a pack of wildings comes into the area and they sense that their brother is near.

We did not get much warging in the series, but the books have a lot!

When the snows fall and the white winds blow,
the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives

I guess Nymeria is foreshadowing how the Stark clan stays together and survives. I can’t explain Ghost then but his name foreshadowed Jon’s death and resurrection. IMHO Ghost deserved many more pets because he was such a good boy!

Probably because of all the fur. It's tough to make it look convincing.

So that's why you don't see characters physically interacting with him much.

But, yes, he is definitely a very good boy.
