After a set back yesterday, I still plan on running.

Everyone is telling me that a 70 year old needs to give it up. HELL no.

Yesterday I was injured, I will recover and start again.

I have a soft track in the backyard, so I thought I would try running barefoot and I scraped the pad on my foot. Lots of blood and now have a flap of skin hanging down. Thought I'd give it a few laps, but after a mile and half I did it. Was feeling great and thought I had found a great new way for me to run.

I'm going to get out and go over the track and remove all obstacles and start again. Bare foot.

Good luck.. Frankly, I can not imagine anyone running barefoot nearly anywhere except on the beach.. hlthe2b Apr 2019 #1
I never run on the beach. I've been cut to many times by glass, old pop tops etc. Lochloosa Apr 2019 #2

The soft uncalloused feet of most Westerners are not the hardy trained feet of athletic rural runners from Africa, parts of South America, and elsewhere. Perhaps yours are more accustomed. Mine surely would not be.

running barefoot is better for your knees. We tend to land on our toes and not on the heal, saving knees from impact. I use to run backwards for the same reason. Do need to work on those soft feet.
