On the last leg of the journey home from Singapore, boarded a plane in Tokyo at 10:15am Wednesday February 27, landed in Chicago at 8:55am Wednesday February 27.....I'm toast!
Yes, imo jet lag does exist and it'll be an interesting next few days....
Any suggestions for acclimating other than just sleep, sleep, and more sleep?

(6,831 posts)I will NEVER get enough of Riff Raff.
Did you have a chance to see the remake with LaVerne Cox ? I was not sure I could handle anyone trying to re-do the original, I was filled with antici . . . pation. But it was really good.

(33,643 posts)In the interest of not sullying my teen memories, chose to never watch. Now ... you're telling me it's good?
I kinda feel like Frankie being a transvestite rather than transgender ... is a big key to the charm, but ... I could be convinced otherwise ...

(6,831 posts)He plays the Narrator. It was shortly after he'd had that stroke, so his screen time is limited. But I was glad that they had included him in it.
As far as seeing the reboot - if you're enamored of the original, maybe the remake isn't for you, but I thought the new players only added to the movie. LaVerne Cox was FABULOUS. The guy who played Riff had studied the first film in detail and his performance was good. Visually, the remake was appealing. The songs were well done.
Now, back in the day, I went to the weekly Saturday midnight screening in costume with my squirt gun, newspaper, rice, toast and etc. So, I guess I was a RockyRat.

(33,643 posts)Most important is ... are the songs well-done? Cause lets face it, it's not REALLY a 'great movie', other than the boundaries it pushed, which are ... waaaaaay ... no longer 'boundaries'.
But there's a lot of appealing songs ... I will insist to my dying day that 'I'm Going Home' is the masterpiece of the show (esp. Tim's amazing performance thereof), but there's a lotta good, fun tunes, and that's what made it great.
Oh, and the Cast, and newspaper, rice, squirt guns, toast ... and hilarious audience participation.
And the camaraderie ... and the pot

(20,174 posts)Assuming you are back on home turf to stay for the foreseeable future, you can try resetting your buological clock by going to bed a 3 to 4 hours later until you're back on your best schedule. It will take 5 to 7 days. You will be a little sleep deprived but hopefully not too much. Melatonin helps some folks, there's also Sleepytime Extra tea (chamomile + valerian).

(54,348 posts)It's not so bad when I fly to the States from here (Europe), because I gain the (six or seven, usually) hours, and just get tired early and get up a little earlier than everyone else.
But when coming back to Europe from North America? I often have to be on the road the very next day, and I'm a wreck for two weeks. You lose the night when you do that. Leave AWashington at 6 PM and 7 hours later, *poof* it's 7 AM.
Asia is a mess, too. One time we did Honolulu back to Düsseldorf straight through. That's twelve time zones, or halfway around the world. We were wrecked for a good long time after that one, too.

(23,650 posts)You left Singapore aton Wed at 10:15 am.
Arrive in Chicago at 8:55 pm.
Non-stop that's about a 20 hour flight. So you most of Wed 2/27 in the air, only to land in Chicago and get the chance to live Wed 2/27 all over again.
Get some sleep and enjoy your extra day of life.

My dad had to do a lot of flying in the 60's and 70's. He always claimed HYDRATE was the operative word.
I've found that helps a lot. We only do in-state, so it's not as time-laggy.
Here's a huggy for you.
