(86,378 posts)my sister rescued it from a pond in a rainstorm. It grew up with all the barn cats so it thought it was a cat. Even tried to make cat sounds, challenged them over scraps of barbeque foods my sibling would drop, and win!

(14,624 posts)The only time I have ever heard the phrase "Lilac Time" is in an obscure song written in the early 1970's by a British guy named Nick Drake. The song is titled "River Man" . . . lyrics below:
Betty came by on her way
Said she had a word to say
About things today
And fallen leaves.
Said she hadn't heard the news
Hadn't had the time to choose
A way to lose
But she believes.
Going to see the river man
Going to tell him all I can
About the plan
For lilac time.
If he tells me all he knows
About the way his river flows
And all night shows
In summertime.
Betty said she prayed today
For the sky to blow away
Or maybe stay
She wasn't sure.
For when she thought of summer rain
Calling for her mind again
She lost the pain
And stayed for more.
Going to see the river man
Going to tell him all I can
About the ban
On feeling free.
If he tells me all he knows
About the way his river flows
I don't suppose
It's meant for me.
Oh, how they come and go
Oh, how they come and go.

The Lilac Time is one of the bands. From Wikipedia: The band's name was taken from a line in the Nick Drake song "River Man".
The British band "The Cure" took their name from one of his lyrics too. From Wikipedia: "Smith credited the origin of his band's name to a lyric from Drake's song "Time Has Told Me" ("a troubled cure for a troubled mind" .

(657 posts)I got the album that Return to Yesterday was on so long ago it was a cassette, so maybe I did know that and just forgot, but whatever, I think I'm gonna go watch some Nick Drake videos.

(14,624 posts)What are your favorites?
BTW, I don't think any video of Nick Drake exists. He didn't become well known until after his death. He died in 1974 (Ithink) at the age of 26 of a prescription drug overdose. He had only released 3 albums.
Some of his best known songs are:
"Fly" - a tiny bit was played in the movie "The Royal Tannenbaums".
"Northern Sky" - was at the end of the movie "Serendipity" with John Cusack, when he and the girl finally find each other (see this youtube clip:
"Pink Moon" - was the soundtrack for a 1990's commercial for Volkswagon Cabrio. See this video (Drake not pictured, he was already dead): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x35sbr

(657 posts)I love Return to Yesterday so much that I don't really have any other favorites. I pretty much just like all their songs I've heard, but that one has been stuck in my head longer than most things!
