(7,614 posts)I parted ways with my gall bladder almost 19 years ago. I was 38 at the time. It turned out I had six stones, some of which were in my gall bladder and some in my bile duct. The pain was dreadful and I was never so glad to go to the hospital in my life as I was when I went for my gall bladder surgery. Hope you get better soon!

(2,271 posts)I was having sharp abdominal pains about 10 years ago. Doctors ruled out most things, so they did a test for gall bladder function. Test came back positive, so my gall bladder was removed. However, on pathological exam, the gall bladder was deemed to be normal. Cause of pain was never determined, though it went away by itself. So gall bladder was removed unnecessarily, but I have not noticed any difference with or without.
