Out of state transfers. If it were any other reason I would be at home or at a AAA location

I always make sure to have a book stores on my phone for times such as these. I was in your shoes a couple of months ago for my passport and had 2 hrs to kill. Thank heavens for Wi-Fi!!

I just did that about a month ago. I played with my phone and watched people. Sadly I could also see the clock when I did that. I also composed a letter to my state representative to complain about the service. We had metal folding chairs but at least the two people arm to arm with me were pleasant individuals. The place was packed. Ugh.

The reason why the law is in place is because of the states history of corruption. The Democrats dont seem intent upon changing it anytime soon.

They were going to send me away without my registration because they said I was blocked due to unpaid taxes. I was pissed. I havent lived here in 15 years. No way I owed taxes. I was right, they just never updated their system. Thankfully the city clerk faxed over the payment verification (from 2004).

make a point of verifying your registration online via RI Secretary of State website.

https://vote.sos.ri.gov/

When I moved to RI, the registration never got entered and when I showed up at the polls found I wasn't registered. It was a presidential year and could only vote on a provisional ballot. You don't want to be locked out of voting.

at the DMV in Santa Barbara. Arrived early and was 6th person in the door at opening time. No clerks appeared until ten minutes later. Then there were only two, a man and a woman. The woman pretty much got right to work. The man.....forget it. He decided his chair needed adjusting and he spent a full 20 minutes fiddling with the height and armrests. I took photos to document this incedible waste of time. Then he took another 10 minutes staring at his computer screen before he finally waited on someone. A full 40 minutes after opening, he hadn't helped a single person. By the time my number was called by the woman, I had put in a full hour and was beyond pissed. My transaction took 2 minutes. Ridiculous.
