Fries are about to get a new friend! Heinz Mayochup sauce, the blend of mayonnaise and ketchup that divided the internet back in April 2018 when it was first announced, is officially making its U.S. debut later this month.

Personally, I say YUCK. What to other DUers think?

Used in a salad of julienned celery root.

(16,817 posts)I already mix mayo and ketchup for my fries, but I'm probably in the minority on that one.

(34,119 posts)Back when I still ate potato chips and was desperate for a "dip" I would mix ketchup and Gulden's mustard. While I like mayonnaise, mixing it with ketchup just doesn't sound right!

(50,447 posts)In the West, we call this "fry sauce." People have been eating it for decades. It's good.

(38,452 posts)but there are not many instances that I would mix the two.
I'm not a food snob but I do wonder when "ketchup" shouldn't be "tomato"
When it comes to fries... ketchup can be blended w/ tabasco.

(14,270 posts)Now you've got some condiments.
Mayo and ketchup works on a hamburger sometimes, but it's nothing you couldn't do up yourself.

(33,643 posts)and no mayo or ketchup, I'd dial it up onto a burger without thinking twice. I like both on a burger, so ...
Matter of fact, I quite like 1000 Island on a burger from time to time, which is what this is + relish (and relish is sweet or dill pickles, so ... killing 3 birds with 1 stone as it were).
I wouldn't dip fries in it though ... I dip 'em in a cajun or other spicy mayo, or ketchup, or ranch, or barbeque ... but just ketchup+mayo doesn't sound that tasty on fries, rather just have ketchup.

(2,598 posts)Black pepper lots of it. Splash of Worcestershire sauce, squirt of lemon. In the south we called it comeback sauce.
Good on fries and good on hand made chicken nuggets.
