Aldi sells their own brand now, so I had to try it. Expected to hate it, but I liked it a lot. In (almost) all seriousness, if parboiling sucks out all the vitamins, please let me know. Otherwise, enjoy my silly poll.

(102,468 posts)I love mine... I can keep it warm and "serveable" for up to 72 hours, though I usually refrigerate whatever is left and microwave it later.
Just sayin... A good brown basmati rice that is cooked slowly in a rice cooker actually does retain more nutrients, including a healthy nutrient compound called GABA. .

(20,776 posts)I have brown rice and white. Sometimes I mix them together, but I have to admit the white rice I love the most is the same kind you find with Sushi. Its white, short and a fat grain. Its very good ..and most enjoyable with Nori (seaweed) and other items such as sliced ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi.

The first - and last - time I shopped at one, I bought a bag of grated cheddar that turned out to be moldy inside. Some of their other items were horribly crummy also.
I find it hard to believe that Aldi's is a corporate relative of Trader Joe's, which is a wonderful store.

(36,827 posts)It's not as good as regular brown rice, but it's better than white rice. If you like it, go for it.
