getting older is better than not getting older.

(4,222 posts)I am 65 and my family is not big on celebrating birthdays but I am. For many years I tolerated this attitude but no more. I now demand something special for my day, even if its just dinner at the place of my choice.
Hope you find whatever you want on this day.

(34,135 posts)I know what you mean. I will be 65 in December. I just got my SS set up and Medicare is almost taken care of. I don't know what it is about getting this old that is so odd to me. I understand you exactly.

(13,929 posts)I just "became" 69 four days ago. Spent it with long time friends.. I mean LONG time friends.
One I met when I was 5, the others were an old girlfriend when we were 15, a ham radio buddy I met when 16.. Life is good upright and fogging a mirror... I'm looking at a new motorcycle..... can you have a mid live crisis at 70??

I'm feeling really low today, but I think I could easily still pass for 67.

That's the way I try to deal with the aging process. Although after my last birthday I'm having some trouble coming to grips with my age. It may have to do with the increase of aching muscles and stiffness.
But I'm happy to be alive and in good health. My heart just breaks for some DU'ers when I read their posts about their health issues. It certainly makes me feel very fortunate.

(2,302 posts)I'll be hitting 68 in December, Hubby did in June, and it seems fine! He still runs his mile and a half, and I...well, I shop and cook and sew and whatever the hell I want.
