I was folding towels

this morning that I had washed -- they were beach towels, and some of them I've had for ages!

My 25-year-old son wandered into the room, and I told him, "A few of these beach towels I've had ever since I was a child!'

To which he replied .... in all seriousness .....

"How are they still intact?"

I have towels from my childrens' childhoods; they're 30+ now, and daughter used one this week for her son/my 3 year old grandson.

And, they are still in fine condition AND absorbent. So many you buy today have fibers that wouldn't absorb a tear drop like the old cotton towels did.

must have been laundered 1000s of times. Try that with the stuff you buy at Walmart.

that say "Fieldcrest - New York, NY- 100% Cotton - Made in USA". They are still nice and thick and absorbent - They must be from the late 60s! I hate those velour towels so many stores sell now that just push the water around.

It was "thread bare" but still would dry things off.
Got it in the first years of marriage and I've been married over 55 years.

Nah, he's a good kid.
And he does an impression of Hank Hill that just cracks me up.

13. I was with my smart-ass 24-year-old son at the pharmacy the other day..

My order wasn't ready so I asked the pharmacist if my son could come back and pick it up later. He said sure, just as long as he knows my date of birth. I looked at my son and reminded him of the year and without a moment's pause, said "A.D.?" The pharmacist fell over.
