Related: Culture Forums, Support Forumsneed some ideas and help please.......tired of my hanging basket of flowers from my shepards hook
which hangs over our street side mailbox. Is there anything else I could hang?? No wind chimes, as I have one near the mail box, and no bird feeders as we don't feed the birds in the summer. I'm tired of my hanging plant looking like crap by mid July too, not good with plants........so I've decided to try something else. Any suggestions? Thank you.

(32,168 posts)Maybe you just need to find the right sun-loving flowers? I'm in sympathy with you because I have a nice place in my back yard to hang a flower basket, the hook is up and everything, except it's in a place that gets lots of wind, and the flower petals usually are all blown off by mid summer and never return.
I suppose you could always try artificial flowers, although that wouldn't be my first choice. Maybe just browse the garden centers and see if they have any outside patio-type-decor that strikes your fancy?

(29,771 posts)July the plant looks terrible......and yah, I'm not a fan of artificial. I really even't looked at the garden centers....I will and may-be I'll find something, thanks. .

(17,025 posts)Those wind spinny things. They are usually made of metal and come flat. Most circular shaped. You open them up and they are a sphere.

(29,771 posts)She's the one that gets to see whatever I hang up first, and she delivers our mail and will be almost face to face with it. Thanks, but I'm not sure I'll be hanging that.

(15,805 posts)There are all kinds of cute signs available, memorabilia, collectables, flags, bunting or banners, macrame hangings, dreamcatchers, whirligigs, woven textile displays, wrought iron pieces, bells or triangles, a wind gauge and thermometer... google outdoor decorations.

(32,168 posts)Maybe I'll borrow it myself! It would definitely look better than a pot full of bare branches!

(23,875 posts)But my suggestion would be a small flag. My mail box is in a wooden frame, so it's easy to attach a banner holder and then hang flags. Change then up with the seasons, for special occasions etc, favorite sports team in season, etc.

The hanger screws into the post.
This isn't mine, but similar. I'm a Pat's fan.
