(16,334 posts)I had email with AT&T from a long time ago before they switched it to Yahoo. I have a few accounts and used one just for shopping online or buying tickets etc. Basically it wasn't a fake email but it was one I considered a throwaway and gave out to those I suspected were going to share it. I just started going through my regular email to see how many I need to update. And it's a lot. I realize I don't have to do it all at once but it's going to take some time. I wish I had done it sooner.

I even emailed their "help" and told them they could save, store, evaluate and share my effing air. Have a nice day, without me.

(906 posts)I have had my Yahoo account for more than 15 years.
I know they pretty much have doing this all along same with Gmail etc because they are free its how they generate money.
For the most part I dont use it for much. But what makes me mad is I have Frontier
Something I pay for Frontier email is powered by Yahoo but supposedly it was somewhat separate but they also sent me the same sign your personal info over to us email.
I plan on calling them and telling them that dnd that I plan on finding a new internet provider so I wont have to share my emails.
Instead of target advertising.
Why cant these companies go back to old fashioned advertising you know the kind that when you watch tv random ads come on or you open a magazine or newspaper and there is an ad everyone see the same one and you can say geez I like that dishwasher didnt know I wanted a new one but now that I see it I want it!
