(23,302 posts)before Stephanie Miller begins on Free Speech TV. It's news and some commentary. Amy Goodman is the real deal IMO, she doesn't pull any punches and covers stories in depth that MSM does/will not. She was deep in the Standing Rock protests and I believe instrumental in getting that story into the main stream. FSTV has many good shows in its line up.

(29,699 posts)and Snowden, it was a little too much for me. I saw her grill Assange one day, but not really and I think she still loves Greenwald, but I rarely watch her. My beloved likes her and watches everyday, but it's with his headset on and I don't hear her.

' an hour-long American TV, radio and internet news program hosted by journalists Amy Goodman and Juan González.[1] The show, which airs live each weekday at 08:00 ET, is broadcast on the internet and by over 1,400 radio and television stations worldwide.[2]
The program combines news reporting, interviews, investigative journalism and political commentary with an eye toward documenting social movements, struggles for justice and the effects of American foreign policy. While described as progressive by fans as well as critics, the show's executive producer rejects that label, calling the program a global newscast that has "people speaking for themselves".[1] Democracy Now! describes its staff as including "some of this country's leading progressive journalists".[3]
Democracy Now Productions, the independent nonprofit organization which produces Democracy Now!, is funded entirely through contributions from listeners, viewers, and foundations and does not accept advertisers, corporate underwriting or government funding.
Democracy Now! was founded on February 19, 1996 at WBAI-FM in New York City by journalists Amy Goodman, Juan Gonzalez, Larry Bensky, Salim Muwakkil, and Julie Drizin.[5] It originally aired on five Pacifica Radio stations.[1] Goodman is the program's principal host, with Juan Gonzalez and Nermeen Shaikh as frequent co-hosts.[4] Jeremy Scahill, an investigative reporter and co-founding editor for The Intercept,[6] has been a frequent contributor since 1997.[1]
Democracy Now! began broadcasting on television every weekday shortly after September 11, 2001, and is the only public media in the U.S. that airs simultaneously on satellite and cable television, radio, and the internet.[7]
In June 2002, Democracy Now! separated from Pacifica Radio and became an independent nonprofit organization.'>>>

(6,344 posts)and view some YouTube clips. It is the real deal. It also is very difficult to listen to most of the time, for me. They report on serious injustice and pain, without holding back. The topics are very intense and raw!
Amy Goodman should be awarded journalism and activism awards. She has been arrested a few times that I know of, for doing her job of journalism. Her listeners rally to support her and she is released, and/or, charges are dropped. She was arrested once reporting DAPL pipeline. She also was arrested in Minneapolis reporting at the Republican convention.
This clip is about her arrest for reporting DAPL security dogs hurting people.
She was the ONLY reporter there!
Why was she arrested? for trespassing! In truth: to prevent her from reporting.
I applaud you Amy Goodman and Democracy NOW!
